I’m Rachel. I’m the Digital Marketing Executive at Ignite Digital Talent. I am also the latest addition to the team. If you’re on this page then you’re probably thinking about coming to work for Ignite Digital Talent which is great! I thought I would write this to give you more of an insight into the company and what we’re like. Hopefully, this will answer all your questions about why you should work for Ignite Digital Talent.
What is Ignite Digital Talent like as a company?
Ignite Digital Talent is a specialist recruitment agency, dedicated to finding the very best tech, digital and data professionals the space has to offer. We work with an extremely diverse range of clients. Some are huge, household names in their sector, while some are exciting, savvy start-ups at the very early stages of their business journey.
Obviously, this requires us to be flexible, knowledgeable and above all responsive to the individual needs of our clients. As such we cover a range of contract and permanent positions doing all sorts. We have placed a 360 range of roles; from hugely experienced ‘Heads of’ to graduates just starting out on their career journey.
Ignite Digital Talent is unlike all of the other recruitment agencies I’ve encountered. We really value building and maintaining lasting, meaningful relationships with clients and candidates. This makes for a much more rewarding working environment.
Our team, clients and candidates appreciate that building these relationships take time. As a result, it never feels like a ‘pushy’ sales environment. We would much rather find high-quality candidates to put forward to our clients rather than submit a long list of candidates who aren’t quite as suitable.
I started working for the company at the start of September and so far, it has been fantastic. Here are some of my favourite things about working here:
The Ignite Digital Talent Team
Everyone in the Ignite team is friendly, helpful and fantastic at their job. The team is small, carefully selected and we all get on really well. The office is really chatty, and it definitely feels like we are a proper team with a shared goal.
The fact that the team is small and supportive means that your ideas really get heard and you can make a noticeable contribution.
Sometimes we will have a team lunch which is great! Not only is the food really good, but it makes for a really nice atmosphere where we can share stories, chat and get to know one another in a non-work capacity.
A real selling point for any animal lover out there, our office is dog friendly! We currently have Nicky and Tony’s dog Yaya as a regular, but anyone is welcome to bring their dog to work!
Our office is in Temple Studios which is immediately on your left when you come out of Temple Meads. It is a fantastic location for commuting by bus or by train. The building is an old factory which has been converted into really nice offices…think urban styling in a listed building. Old parquet floors with reclaimed wood and exposed pipework!
Our office is light and airy, and we all have our own large desks. We’ve got a breakout area with comfy chairs for when you want to chill. Tea and coffee facilities are on hand. We are currently doing a bit of redecorating so that the office has a fresh new look in time for the new year. We’re adding a range of different seating such as a breakfast bar and comfy sofa
Being in the Temple Studios building is also really cool because we have communal break areas, complete with ping pong table, a vending machine and a kitchen. If you want to go and work somewhere quieter, then there are a selection of booths and meeting rooms around the building you can use.
Temple Studios is home to some really interesting and diverse businesses. We are neighbours with architects, game designers, music production companies and PR agencies to name but a few. Every summer and Christmas the building management team host a party to which we are all invited. A great opportunity to get to know those who we see every day but may never get the chance to stop and chat with!
Opportunities for development
The company is fantastic in terms of having the opportunity to develop yourself. We are encouraged to attend a range of events such as Bath Digital Festival and Bristol Digital Festival which are great for networking and personal development. We also have access to some online learning opportunities for professional development. It’s nice because you don’t have to sit through hours of training videos, but if there are any areas where you want to improve then this is really encouraged.
Dress down at work
We can wear casual clothes to work which is so much more comfortable for the working day.
Ignite is one of the only recruitment agencies in Bristol to offer flexible working hours. There is the opportunity to work from home sometimes or work outside of the usual 9-5.30. I don’t have kids, but for many of my colleagues who do this is invaluable.
I know that lots of recruitment companies offer glitzy rewards for hitting targets such as going on all expenses paid holidays, but for many people, the reality is that these are quite unachievable. All the targets and competitions we have at Ignite are actually really achievable and valued by the team. We have just been gifted a few extra days off at Christmas, for example.
You have the opportunity to do really well
The general work environment is really encouraging, and it feels like everyone is supported. I feel like I can do really well here, and all the good little everyday things that I do get positive feedback. I have been in roles in the past where it feels like whatever you do is not good enough. It’s so beneficial and positive to be in an environment like this. It is the type of place where not only are you rewarded for hitting targets, but your hard work is also recognised.
I hope all this is enough to persuade you to apply for a position here. I genuinely love working here and I’m so glad I decided to apply. It is a breath of fresh air to find a job where I feel valued and where the directors really care about their team. I feel like I have been personally selected to work here, over and above the qualifications on my CV. I am certain I will go on to excel here and I can’t wait to see how far my journey with Ignite can go!
