The Silicon Gorge AKA Bristol has recently been named as the best place to live in the UK in 2017 in the Sunday Times Best Places to Live Guide.
According to Sunday Times editor, Helen Davies,
“The city is a worthy winner thanks to its ideal combination of extraordinary culture, impressive schools, buzzing culinary scene, exciting redevelopment and community spirit. We sum the city up as cool, classy and supremely creative.”
But Bristol is not just a great place to live, it’s also an ideal place for starting or moving digital businesses. The city’s economy is now driven by the digital and tech industries and has seen amazing growth in the last few years. As 2019 draws to a close it is a great time to reflect on all the fantastic growth of the Silicon Gorge. As reported by Business Live, Bristol tech companies have raised $305million from investors this year, according to new research. Bristol has received the third-most investment of all UK cities – with only Manchester and London raising more since the start of the year – according to the report by Tech Nation and Dealroom.co for the Digital Economy Council.
George Windsor, head of insights at Tech Nation, added: “In recent years, Bristol has asserted itself as one of the UK’s leading tech hubs.
“The Tech Nation reports of 2019 and 2018 highlighted its role as one of the most productive tech clusters in the UK, as well as revealing how it has created thousands of jobs in the area.”
