Role Summary

As a Software Engineer, you will work within a cross-functional, agile team to develop the challenging new features if a digital services and data platform. Building on the existing capabilities of a secure and resilient platform APIs, you’ll develop innovative new features and the supporting APIs that they require. You’ll be quick to understand new features and technologies, and constantly challenge the rest of the team to deliver better products for our users.

You will report directly to the Engineering Director, and work closely with other Software Engineers, DevOps, Quality Engineers and Product Owners as required within a flexible team structure.

You will be a self-starter, quick learner and someone who likes challenges. You will be a team player that is able to be part of and mentor a team who demonstrates a real passion for pushing web software to the limit.

The concepts and tools are all new, so you must be able to grasp new concepts quickly and work with software, for which reading source code and Internet investigation is the norm rather than being able simply to read books and go on courses.

Good interpersonal skills are required to build relationships and trust with open source development communities, in order to find answers to problems and gain support, which has to be reciprocal.
