IT Application Support Manager

You will be responsible for leading an Application Support team providing 2nd/ 3rd line support for a range of Microsoft based mission critical applications (MS Windows, MS SQL Server, IIS, MS Dynamics CRM, Azure, etc..)

A leading financial services provider require an experienced Applications Support Manager with a strong track record of leading Software Applications Support Specialists within an ITIL and Microsoft technology environment.

The Role:

You will be responsible for leading an Application Support team providing 2nd/ 3rd line support for a range of Microsoft based mission critical applications (MS Windows, MS SQL Server, IIS, MS Dynamics CRM, Azure, etc..)

Some of the activities you will be involved but not limited to include:

  • Team Management including performance appraisals, mentoring, coaching and development
  • Ensure an effective and rapid response to Major Incidents on software applications including escalation, working with resolver teams, communication and closure
  • Manage and maintain effective second level support
  • Responsible for performance management and development of Application Support
  • Review and improve the content of the Application knowledge base
  • To ensure the new applications being delivered by projects are “operationally ready”
  • Responsible for Application risk and software lifecycle management
  • Represent Application Support at CAB meetings

About You & Your Experience:

  • Strong team and line management experience of managing an IT support team ideally within an application support
  • Background in providing database and applications support and of mission-critical business applications in a 2nd and 3rd line capacity
  • Background in Financial Services ITIL Service Management framework
  • Experience of support in Microsoft technologies including SQL Server (2008/2016), IIS and Web technologies
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL Service Management frameworks
  • Awareness and understanding of technical principles and concepts used around Application Architectures

  • Experience of Managing 3rd party suppliers
