A talented and enthusiastic Scrum Master  is required to join an exciting new start up that provides a safe, secure and sovereign data platform, with the ability to undertake analysis of private data with the consent of the data owners, and designed to be the first ‘citizen’ centric data portal providing data management services to both organisations and individuals, with the citizen able to make choices on the control of their personal data allowing them to gather, manage and use their data to make better decisions and manage their lives better. The rapidly expanding data privacy market is forecast to grow exponentially over the coming years and the services offered to both organisations and individuals meet both consumer trends and on-going Government aspirations. This new venture is driven by a highly experienced board of Directors with a strong track record of entrepreneurial success building successful tech and data companies.

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to help our client embed and further develop their Agile capabilities. The successful candidate will need to focus on getting the teams, product owners and wider organisation engaged in improving the process of product delivery. Amongst the current challenges are streamlining the architectural sign-off process; establishing whole-team accountability and cross-functionality; getting better visibility of medium- and long-term forecasts; establishing a community of knowledge sharing across teams.

As an Agile Scrum Master your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Leading multiple agile sprint teams making sure that sprints deliver to their commitments
  • Provide metrics and reports to help the Project Managers forecast project delivery
  • Supporting the Product Owner and the Scrum Team in delivering high quality products that delight customers.
  • Helping the team to deliver the maximum out of every Sprint.
  • Assisting the Product Owner in developing and managing the backlog, creating appropriate stories, grooming, and prioritisation.
  • Ensuring the team have everything they need to deliver high quality products in a timely, consistent and reliable manner
  • Providing coaching and support to the team and the wider organisation.
  • Removing impediments on behalf of the team and acting as the integration point with the wider organisation.
  • Creating an environment based on trust and respect, and encouraging problems to be raised openly.
  • Facilitating meetings, discussions and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Securing and facilitating release slots for promoting stories to the live environment in accordance with the Release programme

 

As an Agile Scrum Master your skills and experience will include:

  • Ideally Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) but it is not essential
  • Few years’ experience leading one or more Agile / Sprint teams
  • Servant Leader – able to gather support and respect from the team, willingness to help, hands on and practical.
  • Communicative and Social – communicates well with the team and the wider business.
  • Assertive and Protective – defend the process, Agile principles, and the team, and be the voice of reason.
  • Agent for Change – continually engaged in self-improvement and encourage and create an environment that fosters continual improvement.
  • Empowering – capable of leading a self-organizing team and encouraging success in others.
  • Transparent – encourages openness and create an environment of honesty, clarity and transparency.
  • Reflective – capable of critically analysing and improving their own performance
  • Experience of working with, and able to apply, other development approaches; understanding how they relate to and differ from Agile.
  • Whilst a software development or technical background in QA, testing or business analysis is not essential it would be an advantage
